According to the government work report, by 2020, the supply and quality safety of major agricultural products such as grain will be better guaranteed, and the level of agricultural modernization will significantly improve. Zhao Yusen, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Vice President of Northeast Forestry University, suggested that during the 13th Five Year Plan period, efforts should be made to vigorously promote the green food industry, accelerate the structural reform of the agricultural supply side, and ensure that people not only have enough to eat, but also eat well.
Zhao Yusen said that in order to solve the problem of food, we have turned the "Northern Wilderness" into the "Northern Warehouse". In a war related to survival, we achieved victory with "quantity", but still need to work hard in "quality".
"On the one hand, there has been a shift in market demand. In the past, people were concerned about whether they could have enough to eat, but now they are more concerned about whether they can have 'good' food. Supply that deviates from market demand will eventually be eliminated by the market." Zhao Yusen said. On the other hand, predatory planting methods are threatening agricultural production capacity. Only by taking the path of green development can we create a sustainable 'Beida Warehouse'.
Zhao Yusen suggests improving the comprehensive coordination system for green food safety supervision and strengthening the government's legal responsibilities. Relevant departments should accelerate the improvement of legislation on green food, adjust current regulations in a timely manner in accordance with international practices, ensure the smooth development of green agricultural products through mandatory means, and gradually incorporate them into the legal track.
"Especially in establishing a green food safety information platform that is fully traceable, interconnected and shared," Zhao Yusen said. "Establishing a green food safety platform is of great significance, as it will change the thinking and management methods of traditional agriculture, cultivate practitioners to promote standardization and proceduralization in all aspects of production and circulation, and be more conducive to improving comprehensive efficiency."
